The story

Our limited-edition XO (Extra Old) Rum is a tribute to the place we're proud to call home.

Inspired by the navy-style rums that flowed through Salford Docks a century ago, this special release brings together a carefully selected blend of aged Caribbean rums, expertly blended and bottled right here at Salford Distillery.

Rich, smooth and full of character, with notes of ripe banana, pineapple, warming spice and caramel, finished with a touch of oak.

More than just a bottle of rum, this is our love letter to Salford – its history, its people and the city that has given us our home.

Here's to the next 100 years.

  • Limited edition: 3,500 hand-numbered bottles, wax sealed bottles

  • Bright pink bottle, the shade you’ll know from signs and civic buildings across the city, with a white map of Salford by Dave Draws.

  • £2 from every bottle to the Mayor's Ceremonial Fund

100 Years a City. Always Salford.

Salford's always been at the heart of everything we make, but this one goes back 100 years.

This is the Salford Centenary Edition. A limited release rum to mark 100 years since Salford became a city.

It started at the docks

Rum came into this city through the docks long before we were making it. So when it came to marking 100 years, that's where we started.

Salford 100 is the year-long programme of events and celebrations marking the centenary, from street parties to exhibitions, with the people who live and work here at the heart of it. As part of it, a call went out for dock stories and Salford answered. Former dockers and their families came forward with memories and old photographs. We sat down with them, poured a glass and listened. The film puts their stories alongside archive footage of the docks, and everything we recorded is going into the Salford 100 archive.

Rum used to arrive here by ship. Now it's made here.

On the bottle

A glass bottle wrapped in a map of Salford, drawn by Dave Draws. Every one is hand-numbered, and there will only ever be 3,500.

Giving something back

£2 from every bottle goes to the Mayor's Ceremonial Fund, shared between Salford City FC Foundation and The Survivors Project. Two Salford charities doing proper work in this city.
